This is the new home of what used to be known as Labyrinth Bound Edits.
I’ve wanted a self-hosted site for years so I could have more control,
and combining my press and editing sites into one seemed logical.
develop ~ edit ~ proof
specializing in editing stories with LGBTQ+ characters, same-sex attraction, and contemporary romance.
I will help you:
- Maintain your unique voice as well as your characters’.
- Sort out the comma drama. Should it be here? Should I delete it? Comma confusion is not unusual. Sometimes the answer is it depends.
- Reveal those hard-to-find missing words, misused words, overused words, and frustrating homonyms.
- Address pacing, overwriting, continuity, and timeline issues.
- Perform a “Listen Edit” on all copy edits to help with readability.
- Untangle the confusion of the Chicago Manual of Style.
Please use email when contacting me about any work.
When discussing work, please avoid contacting me via Facebook Messenger. Details are too easily lost there, the app is not private, and I only use Messenger on one device. So, for the sake of your project being completed by your deadline, email me. That comes to every device I own, even when I’m floating on the lake with limited cellular service.
The Big Picture
Developmental edits are an in-depth look at your story, a step back to study the foundation of your story. Developmental edits are subjective. Through the lens of the hero’s journey, I’ll make sure you have a strong hook, each beat is hit, and that the turning points lead to a strong climax. I’ll also ensure your story meets genre conventions, it contains those scenes romance readers crave, and that each scene has a value shift to help keep the reader engaged.
Technical edits will not be addressed unless there is a global issue that should be addressed. I may link you to a resource so you can fix any issues that get in the way of the story, however.
Most feedback will be given in the form of comments in the manuscript and through global notes. This will be a back and forth process as well, with more discussion and notes you can take back to help improve your manuscript.

Content & Copy Edit
The Double Bubble
The Content Edit is a deeper look at your story’s content and structure, essentially Developmental Edit Lite. I’ll address plot holes, overwriting, pacing, flow, clarity, and style. I’ll ensure voice is maintained, characters remain unique, and the overall story arc and character development are relatable and believable. I’ll focus on dialogue flow while hunting down those pesky tense changes, point-of-view slips, and concepts that detract from the story. I’ll make specific suggestions throughout your manuscript to strengthen your writing. The story will then be sent back to you to address the suggested changes.
On the Copy Edit, I will address technical mistakes and check for consistency. Attention will be focused on grammar, punctuation, spelling, capitalization, vocabulary, as well as sentence and paragraph structure. The Chicago Manual of Style will be my style guide unless otherwise stated.

The Technical Side
On a Copy Edit, I’ll address technical mistakes. Attention will be on grammar, punctuation, spelling, vocabulary, as well as sentence and paragraph structure. I’ll use a balanced approach between your writing style and writing conventions, and I promise not to change your narrator’s voice.
The Chicago Manual of Style will be my style guide unless otherwise stated and it’s important for me to know where your story is set so I can use the appropriate dictionary and grammar conventions. I’m American, however, most of my editing work has actually been on stories written by British and Australian authors.
I will point out tense changes, point-of-view slips, pronoun confusion, flow issues, meter, missed words, overused words/phrases, and those pesky homonyms. I’ll also check consistency. After you’ve made all your changes, I’ll do a spot check on any additions.

The Final Touch-up
Proofreading is done at a similar pace that your readers will go through your work. This is not an edit, but a touch-up. I will address sentence structure, grammar, punctuation, spelling, capitalization, style consistency, numbers, and preformatting* so your manuscript is ready for formatting.
Please let me know of any preferences on formatting before I get started. If you format with Vellum, I can preformat your manuscript for easier uploading.

The Fine Print
If this the first time I’ve edited for you, I’ll edit 500 words for free to ensure we work well together. My cost estimate is based on your sample, so send me a section of your manuscript that is in need of work and indicative of your editing needs, not your cleanest writing.
I accept payment via PayPal, and 50% payment is required before starting.
Prices are based on the highest word count. If words are added between a content and copy edit, the charge will be based on the higher word count because I will perform both a content and copy edit on the new material.
* Additional charges may apply for manuscripts that require extra time and attention. I will contact you if this is the case and give you the opportunity to revise a bit more before I tackle your edits.
All prices are shown in USD.

Professional, courteous, and thorough, Boho Edits is a pleasure to work with. I know my story is in safe hands.
I’ve used Boho Edits for my editing services since 2015, and I highly recommend Posy. Not only is her work thorough and all-inclusive, but she’s always on time, communicates openly about her scheduling, and her comments and suggestions are well-researched and encouraging. Posy works with the author to make a manuscript the best it can be, and I’m proud to have her name in my books.
